Our Partners

Built Right Custom Homes has partnered with building industry leaders in performance and sustainability to showcase the green (environmentally sustainable and healthy) construction of this home.  Please read their product descriptions below and click on their logos to visit their company websites.  Products will be added to this list as construction progresses and they are installed into the home.

Superior Walls
Energy and resource efficient precast foundation wall system.  This foundation features a continuous layer of foam insulation bonded directly to the concrete, resulting in a high energy efficiency.  Steel-reinforced concrete studs on the inside of the walls prevent the need for lumber to fir out walls, saving time as well as resources.

iLevel
iLevel as part of Weyerhaeuser, produces wood products in environmentally responsible ways.  Weyerhaeuser created the nation’s first tree farm in 1941.  100% of their forests are independently certified to sustainable forestry standards.  Technology is used to grow trees at two to three times the rate of unmanaged forests and grow straighter and stronger.  In addition, Weyerhaeuser harvests only 1-3% of their forests each year.  On average, they use 99% of each log to produce iLevel products, additional wood products, and energy.  The latest technology is used in manufacturing to provide more predictable performance, which translates into less waste and more efficiency on the jobsite.

Jeld-wen Window and Doors
Jeld-wen makes Energy Star qualified windows and has been an Energy Star Partner since 1998.  The windows installed in this home are Low-E 366 which is one of the highest ratings available for blocking radioactive heat flow into the home.

Spider
Formaldehyde-free blown insulation that fills the tiniest crevices.  This insulation provides an R-15 thermal rating.  It also has low moisture content making it mold resistant and provides an excellent buffer to sound transmissions.

K&V Heating and Air
A leader in the techniques of Energy Star and green heating and cooling, K&V Heating and Air is locally owned and operated in East Bend, N.C.  They are a vital part of Built Right Custom Homes’ LEED and NAHB certifications team.  K&V can be contacted at 336-699-2088.

Goodman Air Conditioning & Heating
The 16-seer heating and air system installed in this home will provide its owners with great energy savings and comfort.  The system features a separate humidity control to increase air quality and a programmable thermostat to further control efficiency.

HomeCrest Cabinetry

Built Right Custom Homes worked with Kitchen Vision of Winston-Salem to select the best cabinets and countertops for this green-built home.  HomeCrest has been in business for 35 years and is certified by the Environmental Stewardship Council for their leadership in resource sustainability.

Cambria
In addition to beauty, natural quarts countertops from Cambria offer strength, durability, stain-resistance, and indoor air quality certification.  Cambria is the only manufacturer of natural quarts in the United States resulting in lower transportation requirements and less production outsourcing than other quarts surfacing products produced in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.  Cambria is very committed to environmental responsibility utilizing green business practices such as recycling 100% of the water used in their plant, refurbishing and reusing their A-frame shipping crates and diamond metal tooling, and donating scrap material from the production process to local road construction projects.

Johnson Granite
Johnson Granite is a certified Cambria installer and fabricator of natural stone.  Founded in 2000, Johnson Granite, Inc. has grown from a small family-owned business with three employees to become a leading supplier of finely crafted countertops used by consumers who demand the utmost in quality and style. Dedicated to excellent customer service, high quality products, and ensuring that your project design is as unique as you are, makes Johnson Granite, Inc. the ultimate choice for creating unsurpassed beauty in your home.

CertainTeed
CertainTeed FiberCement siding is not only beautiful, but high performance.  It contains more than 30% recycled material and is very sustainable carrying a 50 year 100% material-and-labor warranty.  The pre-finished colors used on this home are Antique White and Heritage Clay.

daltile
The kitchen backsplash, all bathrooms, and laundry room feature tile by Daltile with most of it containing between 30% and 40% recycled material.  By virtue of its long life, tile is already a green product; however, Daltile takes it several steps further with their GreenWorks program.  GreenWorks incorporates reduction, reuse, and recycling into every part of Daltile’s company operations.

Kohler
All of the water fixtures in this home are manufactured by Kohler, a global leader in plumbing fixtures.  Kohler’s products provide a combination of quality, good looks, and water conservation.  It’s interesting to note that average toilets account for about 25% of our daily water usage.  Kohler’s high-efficiency 1-2 flush toilets are installed in this home, as well as faucets and shower heads that conserve water without compromising performance.

Rinnai

Let’s cut right to the chase – endless hot water and lower energy bills.  This appliance heats water instantly and operates only when hot water is demanded.  A bonus feature in this model is its venting system, which utilizes outdoor air to ignite and vents directly to the outside, keeping its combustion air out of the home’s environment.

The interior primers and paints in this home are from Sherwin Williams’ Harmony line.  Harmony coatings are durable, zero-VOC (volatile organic compounds aka toxins), and anti-microbial (inhibit growth of mildew) which contributes greatly toward indoor air quality and a healthy living environment.

Trex® is made from about 50 percent recycled and reclaimed plastic, and 50 percent reclaimed wood. These materials would otherwise go unused in landfills.  The Trex company’s manufacturing process is as green as its final product.  Their list of achievements with respect to our environment is long.  For instance, 7 out of every 10 recycled grocery bags in the U.S. end up at Trex (about 1.5 billion per year).

Bosch has been named the 2009 Energy Star Partner of the Year for appliances by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  This home includes both an Energy Star dishwasher and refrigerator.

Mohawk’s everSTRAND™ carpet fiber, made using PET (polyethylene terephthalate) that is extruded from recycled plastic bottles, contain 100 percent post-consumer recycled content.  And it doesn’t end with the carpet - every part of the plastic bottle is recycled, including the cap, the label, and the bottle. The cap and the label are used to make carpet cores around which the carpet is wrapped.  Because plastic beverage bottles are made with top quality PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resins as required by the US Food & Drug Administration, the recycled product is superior to lower grades of synthetic fibers used in making other brands of carpet yarns.
